CHILLIWACK CURLING CLUB -BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING – December 16, 2015

1.0    Meeting called to order by Larry at 7:02 pm

 

2.0    It was moved by Lenneke and 2nd by Bobby that the minutes of November 18, 2015 be accepted as presented. CARRIED

 

3.0    Moved by Lenneke & 2nd by Gary to accept agenda as amended.

 

4.0    Correspondence:  Letter from the Chamber of Commerce that we had been nominated for the

Business of Excellence Award.

 

5.0    OLD BUSINESS:

5.1    Bruce drew the name for Membership Recruitment prize of a Paid League Night.  Winner was John Romeyn

 

6.0   NEW BUSINESS: 

6.1    – Volunteer Appreciation Night – Andre to organize a Beer & Pizza night.

 

7.0   TREASURER’S REPORT - none

 

8.0   MANAGER’S REPORT

1.       Met with Welcome Wagon on Dec. 9.  Cost $3/visit.  One year contract. Approximately 80/visits/month.

Gift  be included with each visit.  Approximate yearly cost $3000.00. – My recommendation is to target our advertising in the newspapers when needed.

2. Poinsettia Sales –sold 138 poinsettias ( 6 free ) and 12 tropical planters for a net profit of $882.36 to the club.

3. With the Masters not needing the ice on Monday afternoons I have opened that time to school classes and so far have 4                             Mondays booked plus every Friday with the exception of Feb. –Pro D Day booked until Spring Break.

4.  Tour of Port Coquitlam, Vancouver and Richmond Curling Clubs with City representatives booked for Jan. 29.

5. I plan to have the proposed dates for the 2016-2017 season for review for next meeting.

 6. Club shuts Dec. 23 for X-mas break and will resume Jan. 3 for a rental.  James plans on conditioning the rocks during the                 break.  Next scheduled flood is Jan. 29 weekend in time for the Men’s Bonspiel.

9.11                         Curl BC:  It was moved by Neil and 2nd by Bobby that we no longer send a subsidized representative to Curl BC Region 11 meetings. Carried.
