Dave suggested that we get pins for the Intl. Tankard event.  Bruce says we have lots of club pins.  Next Curl BC Meeting in February will include invites for Managers and Presidents.  Curl BC is looking for our bonspiel dates for next year…to be submitted by February.  Liz Goldberg is back on the board.

07. Manager’s Report

1. James fell off a ladder on Nov. 5 away from the rink and broke his heel.  He is on medical EI and I think the club should make up the difference as a bonus to him when he returns for his dedication, extra hours and hard work since he started four years ago. I have assumed ice scraping duties and Aaron and Steph have filled in for the sweeps, pebbles and nips during the day.  It looks like he will be out until January.  I will be doing the flooding and ice maintenance during the holidays.

2.  Halloween dance went well with about 110 people attending.  No problems or issues.  Bar sales were just under $2200.00

3. Pot of Gold Bonspiel went well on the weekend with 24 teams playing.

3. Rentals for November/December:

        - Rogers Foods X-mas – Nov. 29

        -Legion Play downs- Dec. 6

        - Sutton Realty X-mas-Dec. 13

        -Larry Industries X-mas-Dec. 20

4. Starting next Friday from 3-5 pm until the end of the season after school groups ( Grade 3-6-20 students) will be coming for instruction and curling.  Club will receive $3/student/session.  If anyone is available to help it would be appreciated.

5. Dues are being accounted for and any delinquent ones are being chased.  Larry has updated my data base so should have time to get back on this late this week.

6.  Advertising invoices have been printed and should get them in the mail tomorrow with a thank you letter to all in ice, scoreboard and wall advertisers.

7. Poinsettia sales aren’t quite as strong as the past few years but we should still make around $500.00 for the club. Well worth doing and I will try to promote a little early next year, but haven’t been able to be in the office as much as I would like with James’ injury.

08. Rocks n’ Rings

Wendi reported that she did a special event for the YMCA on November 3rd and Strathcona (2 days) and Rosedale (1 day) scheduled for December.

09. Reports

09.1 Executive – will be meeting following this meeting.

09.2 Finance/Treasurer & Revenue Generation – Lenneke reported that our cash balance is very healthy.  In other income, the sign rental is not recorded yet and Repairs reflect $9000 of roof repair and $8600 general repairs.

09.3 Bonspiels & leagues:  Larry presented some figures.  Our night leagues are up.  More members are curling more and once a week.  Day leagues – a lot are curling 2 – 3x per week.  Not a lot of growth but did not drop much either.

09.4 Juniors & Clinics:  Larry suggested we get listed in the Senior Brochures.  Run an Elder College clinic and a Stick Clinic.  Stick clinic could be held on the 7th or 14th and would be a free two hour session.

09.5 Social – Thanks to Neil and his wife for helping with decorations.

09.6 Membership Recruitment & Retention – Bobby reported that he had submitted our Winter page to the Leisure Guide with emphasis on corporate Groups &/or lessons.

09.7 Building / Facility Enhancement:  Fred reported that it is leaking over sheet 6.  Adam says there are a couple of wet spots and also suggests cleaning gutters in case of backups.  Two upstairs 32” TV’s died. Suggest replacing with a bigger model.  Larry will look into that.  Gary to move the ash tray on the east stairs down to the next landing.

09.8 Awards – Frank Jamieson – 80 tickets sold.  We sold 35 and Kiwanis sold 45.    Letter from Rod Scoble (F/R coordinator) sent a thank you letter to Friendly Mikes highlighting that we were able to raise $794.00 for the Bursary.  It was questioned why the curling club directors were absent?  A club member raised the question why we go to Friendly Mike’s for this event.  Answer given was that Frank had an association with them.
