05. New Business

05.1 Remove Benches, Dividers and change side boards.   Fred brought this to the attention of the board and there was much discussion.  These changes would be better for ice maker and help to make more consistent ice across all sheets.  It also assists in flooding.  James had suggested removable benches and board agreed that was a good idea.  It was suggested that we double up size of side boards from 1x6 to 2-1x6.   It was moved by Fred and 2nd by Larry that we remove dividers and change side boards next summer before next season.  Carried.

05.2 Purchase a new ice scraper $10,000.00.   Bruce explained this is more of a want than a need.  Ours doesn’t really need replacing at this time.  We should keep an eye out for a grant to purchase this down the road.

05.3 New Ice Monitoring System $6000.00.  Again, something to look at for the new building.

05.4 Car window decals.  Quotes from Prime Signs were presented.   Agreed we should host a contest for design/content.  Deadline end of March. Prize would be $50 Club Bucks

Wendi to email membership

05.5 – Lil Rockers T-Shirts.  Bruce spoke with Jim Vermeer but no progress made.  We need to decide content.  Wendi suggested the word curling down a long sleeved shirt.  I throw Rocks at houses was suggested along with our club logo.  T shirt colours were discussed.  Board agreed that it should be for ALL Junior curlers in our program and will try to get the shirts ordered for next October start.

Neil to call Jim

06. BC Junior Provincial

Wendi reported that this was a great event.  Received many compliments and Thank yous. We had over 150 volunteers putting in hundreds of hours of work.  Teams had a good time.  Our Club presented well.  Sportsnet indicated that ours is one of the best rinks they have been too.  Thanks to everyone.

07. Curl BC Report

Dave reported that the meeting was last Sunday.  Playdowns discussion on changing format due to small rinks and in some cases, lower numbers of teams.  They are looking for a Governor at Large with a financial background to join their board.  Criminal record checks for volunteers are usually free.  Royal City has started a Roaming Ladies Bonspiel which they hope will be hosted on the same weekend but a different club each year.  Purpose is to encourage an increase in interest in Ladies curling which has been on the decline for a number of years.   Next meeting will be at Marpole on Feb 16th.  Theme is Hosting Playdowns and all Managers and Presidents are invited to attend.
