BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

MINUTES

 

FEBRUARY 27TH, 2011

President Larry Legault called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm.

8 directors present.

Minutes:

Motion:

Moved by Jane Arden seconded by Chris Godwin

The minutes of the December 6th meeting are approved as reviewed.  Carried.

-          No business arising from minutes.

 

Correspondence:

-          No

 

Old Business:

-          None

 

New Business:

-          Deadline for applying for Curling Assistance Program grant is March 15th.  Club must have approval to match $$ of grant to max. of $12,000.  Discussion followed concerning either capital or non capital expenditures to apply for.

The Board of Directors approve the availability of up to $12,000. to match any $$ received through the C.A.P.   Carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Motion:

The Treasurer’s report be adopted as reviewed.  Carried

 

Manager’s Report:

-          Proshop sale is now on. 

-          The condenser motor fan burnt out last Sunday, has been repaired, no bill yet.

-          Have 2 men’s teams and no women’s team entered for the Club Challenge.

-          Terry and Colleen Bodman will go to Gibson as club’s volunteer reps.

-          BC PCMCA/BCIMCA Championship ready to go Feb. 28 to March 3.

-          Meeting with Masters reps and Curl BC and Scott Braley scheduled for Thursday.

-          Sign- up sheets out for next season.

-           Tentative date list has been given out to leagues.  Leagues to run until Dec. 22nd.

-          Possible no age restriction, able bodied (no sticks), open league on Thursday afternoons.

-          Should have a one day clinic at end of season, April 3.

Executive:

-          Bruce has accepted his contract for next season

 

Building/Facility Enhancement:

-          Sealing of grouting in Men’s upstairs washroom to be done.

-          Loose electrical outlet in kitchen needs repair.

-          Ramp at back of ice area needs repair.

 

Finance:

-          No report

 

Ice Conditions:

-          No report

 

Membership Recruitment/Retention:

The request to redeem membership of Shirley Lawley be approved.  Carried.

    

Programs and Services:

Juniors/clinic

-          Junior league had a very good show with 25 little rockers and 35 juniors.

-          Junior interclub league has been successful. Chilliwack finished 1rst in league.  Plaque will go up on display.

-          Al Kersey would like to form Optimist Club, Upper Fraser Division with Chwk. as Base Club.  

-          Curl BC will require coaches at zone/regional, provincial level must have min. level 2 certificate.

Social:

-          Golf tournament at Aquadel to be May 29th.

-          Drain the Keg will be on April 1rst.

Bonspiels:

-          Spring mixed on March 11-13.  17 teams so far.

-          New sponsor Vine to Wine.

-          Advertising to go out this week.

-          Gary to check on supplying side dishes for spiel.

-          Chilli and men’s spiels were successful.  Basket raffle and 50/50 were money makers.

-          AGM is last Thursday of May

-          Thanks to Peter Lui for his hard work and dedication to the club.  He will be moving from Chilliwack.

 

Peter thanks the Board for all their support during his time here.
