BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

MINUTES

 

AUGUST 23rd, 2010

President Larry Legault called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Eight Directors were present. 

 

Minutes:

Motion:

Moved by Kara Biersteker seconded by Kim McLandress

The minutes of the July 26th meeting are approved as reviewed.  Carried.

-          No business arising from minutes.

 

Correspondence:

-          No

 

Old Business:

-          Frank Jamieson Bursary committee met to manage the bursary.  Will format an application form for qualifications for bursary.

-          St. John’s First Aid course will be tentatively scheduled for Sat. Sept. 18th.  $860 + H.S.T.  8 – 15 people.

Includes AED training.

-          In ice logos to be redone from plastic to mesh.

-          Invoices to be sent out at end of month with pictures.  Average increase of $50.

 

New Business:

-          Junior league H.S.T. exempt if 50% of participants are under 14.

-          League fee remains same at $50.

-          POS System introduction tomorrow 10:00 am.  5% off if purchased then.

-          Discussion followed.

Moved by Peter Lui seconded by Jane Arden

To purchase the POS System (soft/hardware) at a cost of approx. $2000.  Carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

-          No report

 

Manager’s Report:

-          New Ice Tech, David Ellis has arrived and the ice shed is ready to start making ice.

-          Refrigeration techs came to start up plant, found a torn gasket in condenser pump, is being rebuilt and plant will start up tomorrow.

-          Everything’s going on schedule and should be ready for open ice Sept 12th.

-          Pro Shop pre-orders should arrive next week.  Gift and knickknack items have been order to expand selection of products.  Olsen is replacing with another product, at no charge, shoes that were of inferior quality.

-          Most night leagues will be full.  Monday night ladies only have 6 -7 teams so far.

-          To place ad beginning of Sept. mentioning leagues, clinics and meetings.

-          Have asked CurlBC to send electronically, posters used in “Hurry Hard” campaign.

-          Club start up cleaning has been started with upstairs almost complete.

Manager’s Report Con’t:

-          Carpets to be cleaned Sept. 7th.  Floors to be done next day.

-          Presidents Wall still needs to be completed.

 

Committee Reports:

 

Building/Facility Enhancement:

-          5 work parties were held this summer.

-          Roof repair has been done.

-          Walls and dividers have been painted in the ice area.  Replaced weather stripping on home end boards.

-          Sinks and countertops have been replaced in up and downstairs men’s washrooms.

-          Replaced ceiling tiles in handicapped washroom.

-          Replaced faucet in kitchen.

-          Fixed lights in ladies’ washroom. Replaced fan upstairs.

-          Outside – painted some walls, east staircase and logos on rear of building,

 

Finance:

-          No report

 

Ice Conditions:

-          No report

 

Membership Recruitment/Retention:

-          Tap the Keg party Sept. 17th.

-          Info booth at Cottonwood Mall this weekend.

 

Programs and Services:

Juniors/clinic

-          Learn to Curl clinic, Sept. 13-15 cost $20.

-          To apply for GM Make a Dream Possible grant.

-          Goal to have 10 instructors certified.

 

Revenue Generation:

-          Neil looking into getting sponsor for lounge and for Junior program.

-          Selling the draw boards.

-          Looking into the possibility of selling food/snacks upstairs.
