BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

 

February 16th, 2009

President Chris Godwin called the regular meeting of the Board of Directors to order on Feb. 16th, 2009.  12 directors were present.

 

Minutes:

-           Moved by Larry LeGault, seconded by Peter Lui the Jan. minutes are adopted as corrected.  Carried.

 

Correspondence:

-            Thank you letter from Chwk Ladies League for improvements made to club.

-            Letter requesting funding for High School Teams.

 

Treasurer’s Report: 

-             Monthly financial report handed out and reviewed.

-             Moved by Larry LeGault seconded by Jane Adam the financial report be

    adopted as reviewed.  Carried.

 

Manager’s Report: Bruce Renwick

-           Tentative dates for 2009/2010 reviewed.

-           Agreed to apply to host BC Mixed Championships held in March. 2010.

-           Adam Dyck is instructing user group Friday night (rental of 2 sheets of ice).

-           Coaching clinic to be held in Vanc. in April. Adam interested in attending.

            cost. Approx.$30.

-             Volunteers needed for juniors and bartenders.

-             Discussion re: increase to dues to cover cost of “Club Bucks”

-             Idea of volunteer fee, $100 a yr. Reimburse back – hours worked.

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

Strategic Planning:

-             Jack Bowman sent back plan with comments

-             Committee to have proposal for Board at next meeting

 

Ice Conditions:

-            Rocks to be re-conditioned this week.

-            Ice maker to be trained on how to do condition rocks.

 

Building and Maintenance:

-            Shelving put up in office

-            Backroom is now insulated

 

Bonspiels and Draws:

-            Chilli Spiel hosted 28 teams. 

-            Men’s Spiel hosted 30 teams. Conflict of dates, change date for 2010?

 

Finance and Funding Committee:    

-            Moved by Dick Allan seconded by Lynne Wejr to increase maximum funding   

   per team from $200 to $300.  Guidelines to remain the same.  Carried.

 

Memberships and Social:

-            Moved by Jane Arden seconded by Larry LeGault membership request by

   Paige Cote be accepted.  Carried.

 

Advertising and Sponsorship:

-            No

                                   

Junior Curling and Clinics:

-            Juvenile girls are going to Winfield Mar. 16-18.

-            High Schools in Smithers Mar. 4-8.  Girls and Boys team participating.

-            March 10 group to attend World Junior Championships in Vanc.

-            Junior program going well.

-            Last day is “bring a friend”

 

Old Business:

-            St. John’s course re: defibrillator,  if taken first aid course – 4 hour course for $42

   per person.  Without first course – 2 day course for $150 per person.

-            Moved by Jane Adam seconded by Dale Morgan to fund volunteers to take

   course to a max. cost of $1000.

-            Website redesign – looks great, calendar page – great.

 

New Business:

-            International Tankard – USA vs Region 11 held in Seattle.  Agreed to pay entry

   and hotel costs for Larry LeGault and Glen Ford to attend.

-            Curl BC volunteer recognition certificate club nominees Laura Watson and Larry

   LeGault.

-            Dick Allan has required number of nominees for positions on the Board of

   Directors.
