18-34 years | 19% | 10% | ||

The elite level of our game is evolving and growing rapidly and becoming very popular as a TV sport. It is played largely by younger people. At the club level, the game has not changed very much and some clubs are struggling to stay in business. It is played increasingly by older people.
For a healthy club in all respects we need strong membership in all age groups.
The Canadian Curling Association (CCA) and Curl BC have
recognized this issue and have developed and promoted their ‘Business of
Curling’ Programs to help maintain and grow the sport at the grassroots level.
The Chilliwack Curling Club has been more successful than some curling clubs but
we are not immune to the general difficulties experienced by others (changing
membership base, less volunteers, higher operating costs, older facilities).
The development of this Strategic Plan was made possible by the help and
facilitation of Jack Bowman of the CCA and the content was prepared at a weekend
workshop in October 2008 by 10 CCC members with representation from throughout
the club.
The strategic action steps have been developed as a guideline to planning
practices by the group but they are by no means cast in stone and are subject to
annual review.
The next step in the strategic planning process is to present the Strategic Plan
to the CCC Board of Directors to refine and approve for implementation.
